Hi, my name is
Lauren Davidson.
I always wanted to be an archaeologist when I was a little girl- digging in the dirt, searching for artifacts that represented a time and place. Now, I play an intentional role in creating preserved history.
My name is Lauren Davidson, and I am a photographer who transforms moments into a record that can be passed down for generations. I create heirloom and environmental portraits that balance documentation with timeless composition.
An Archivist in the Making
Growing up in Northern Virginia, I was surrounded by history. ‘If you take a metal detector to the backyard, you’ll be sure to find Civil War artifacts,’ my parents frequently told me.
Though I never did take a metal detector to the backyard, my fascination with history and archaeology never faded. In elementary school, I was glued to the TV watching childhood ‘home-videos’ I found captured on a handheld camcorder. In high school and college, I researched and wrote stories about my ancestors.
When I discovered photography in middle school, I created photo stories documenting family life, fond places and new cultures. Coupled with an interest in editorial design, my developing photography skills encouraged me to pursue a bachelor’s and master’s degree in photojournalism.
